I'm dreaming of a brown Christmas, just like the ones I used to know. It's not like it's never happened, but its pretty rare in Central Minnesota. 2020 could be one of those rare years, because #2020, right?

From the National Weather Service:

No significant changes are expected in the weather pattern anytime soon. As a result, the forecast through next Wednesday, and the outlook for the subsequent week, indicate mostly dry weather with above normal temperatures for this time of year.

Going back through forty years of records the National Weather Service says that Central Minnesota experiences a white Christmas 76% to 91% of the time since 1981.

Looking at the St. Cloud area forecast, there are no significant storms on the horizon between now and Christmas. Obviously things can change, but it's probably time to start coming to terms with the fact that we may have a brown Christmas.

That's probably not the worst news in the world for families traveling during the 2020 holiday season.

Snowmobilers, skiers, and snow-lovers in general are less excited about the forecast.
