Presidential Political Lawn Signs Are Divisive And Ineffective [OPINION]

When it comes to local elections, lawn signs can be very helpful and informative. From city council elections to county-wide races, lawn signs can be effective in advertising which positions are up for election and who to research before the upcoming ballot.

However, when it comes to candidates for national office, specifically presidential candidates, signs advertising those preferences feel more like an act of aggression than a simple showing of preference.

Let's face it- people's political views are so deeply entrenched that most are inches away from striking oil. The left will vote left regardless of candidate, the right will vote right regardless of candidate and the middle... well, I don't believe the middle exists in great numbers any more.

Do we really believe that someone who typically votes Democrat is going to see that giant TRUMP 2024 sign on 2nd Street in Sartell and think to themselves, "Hmm, maybe I have chosen the wrong candidate here based on the size of that sign?"

Are we really under the impression that someone will see the ninth HARRIS/WALZ sign in a yard and say 'well, the first eight signs weren't all that convincing but since they just had SO MANY signs, maybe I will rethink things.'

The only thing that is actually happening when people see your presidential lawn signs is that you are drawing a line in the sand to everyone who sees them- you are with me or against me. I suppose maybe that is the intention?
