Have you ever seen so many eagles in one location? I can honestly say this has never happened to me before. This weekend, I was excited to see one bald eagle going after something along the road I was driving on in northern Minnesota coming into Crosby.

According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the eagle population is the healthiest its been in years.

About a week ago, eagles took over the small town of Cologne, Minnesota.

Bald eagles started flocking to Meuwissen Lake, which caused people to flock their also, to take pictures of this rare event.

According to an article, Richard Arnst of the Benton Lake Watershed Conservancy said, "As soon as the ice left, the skies were full of eagles. We stocked for the last three years, but we've got to believe winterkill this year. The timing was right, the weather was right, and the eagles were hungry. It was awesome. It was great. It was quite the topic in the bars and everybody's been talking about it. This is like going to Wabasha for the Eagle Center. We had it here in Cologne."

Arnst said that they think the eagles were getting an easy meal, and thinks that crappies and sunfish are what drew the raptors to the area.

You can watch the video of Arnst and others talking about the special occasion below. Now the question: will this happen again next year?
