The Charm And Limits Of Life In A Small Town

When you grow up in a small town, you know how boring it can be. You basically know everyone in town. Everyone knows everyone elses business, and you will always have someone near you to help you out.

LIFE IN A SMALL TOWN

The bad things about a small town is really the same as the good things about a small town. The bad thing is that everyone usually knows most of your business, and the good thing is that everyone usually knows most of your business. If you ever need any help with something, since everyone pretty much knows what's up, you will usually have neighbors to help out. They are concerned with your well-being, and actually care when they ask how you are.

TRY THAT IN A SMALL TOWN

You may or may not have heard the song by country artist Jason Aldean "Try That in a Small Town". I heard so many people, and celebrities say that they are from a small town and that isn't the way it is. Their "small towns" were like 10K people. That's not a small town. That sounds like a medium town to me. Try a town of 1000 people or similar, and most everything in that song rings true.

Recently I had to head back to my hometown because I had some business to do at the bank. Namely cash in a bunch of loose change. Loose change that had been sitting around for YEARS! Banks in St. Cloud generally will not do that for you, especially when there is quite a bit of it... lots of pennies. But, in Eden Valley, Farmer's and Merchant's bank, they were more than willing to help out with that situation.

HELPFUL STAFF

I happened to dump part of the gallon bag of pennies that I had on to the parking lot. It wasn't the whole bag, but there were quite a few pennies on the ground. 2 or 3 of the bank employees came out to help me pick them up. That was AMAZING!!! Again, that would not happen (more than likely) at the bigger banks here in a bigger city. But in a small town, people rush out to help their friends, neighbors and customers. All the good feels.

WANT TO MOVE TO A SMALL TOWN?

There are all of the good feels about living in a small town. But, there is still the possible boredom factor. Can you order a pizza for delivery? Well, sometimes now that is possible, as some gas stations such as Casey's will deliver. There isn't a Casey's in Eden Valley, however. And, for the most part, any shopping that you need to do probably has to be in the next, larger town. That's just the way it is. Still enjoy the feeling of a small town.
