Call me a nerd, but I have a soft spot for orchestral music. Maybe it’s because I grew up lightsaber fighting to John Williams’ masterpieces, or because I was in band when I was in school. Whatever the reason is, I think it's perhaps the most underrated form of music (along with jazz.)

When I was in school I was probably a little spoiled when it came to going to concerts. My fellow band geeks know what I’m talking about – there are band related events year round that give you the opportunity to see college level musicians perform. It’s something that I probably took for granted at the time, but in hindsight it was a very cool set of experiences. The atmosphere that a live orchestra creates is nothing short of breathtaking.

It’s every bit as powerful as a rock concert (and I don’t say that lightly.) If you’ve never had that opportunity to check out an orchestra in person, now is your chance. The St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra will be performing their “Legends” show on April 21st at Ritsche Auditorium (Stewart Hall.) The concert will last from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm and you can get your tickets now for $25 a piece.
