The City of St. Cloud, as previously reported on WJON, will not open the 7 wading pools due to a lack of qualified lifeguards. St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis joined me on WJON today. He says this is unfortunate but not unexpected.

Summer is fast approaching and the warmer weather won't be far behind. St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis joined me on WJON for a Radio Town Hall Meeting. He says the city is struggling to find part-time employees to staff the 4 wading pools in the community making the opening of the wading pools "iffy".

St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis joined me on WJON this week. He took questions from callers and addressed some of their concerns. Questions ranged from why St. Cloud no longer has a fountain in Lake George, policies on noise violations from dogs, music and fireworks.

Portions of the city operated Municipal Athletic Complex are on Federal land owned by the Veterans Administration. Those portions include Joe Faber Field and all of the Veteran's Golf Course with the exception of the club house. Dick Putz Field, the hockey arenas and parking lot are all part of the city's property.

The transition of the St. Cloud City Hall from its current location on 4th avenue south and division street/highway 23 to the old St. Cloud Tech high school building continues. St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis says due to supply chain/technology issues the scheduled open house on February 28th has been moved to Saturday March 12th starting at 10am.

The Press Bar burned down in February of 2020 in downtown St. Cloud. WJON reported on September 15th the purchase of half of the Press Bar site to the group who owns Cowboy Jacks.

St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis says he's happy with the decision by the city council a few weeks ago to extend the downtown parking pilot program. The pilot program now runs through June 30 of 2022 and allows for parking in downtown parking garages for free nights after 5 p.m. and on weekends.

Snow is in the forecast for St. Cloud this weekend and if we get measurable snow the City of St. Cloud will be ready to move it. That according to St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis. He says their budget runs January-December which means their snow removal covers last winter and the first part of this one.

St. Cloud residents were asked to reduce their water usage at different times this summer due to the drought we dealt with in Central Minnesota. St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis says the city is no longer mandating watering to one day a week but is still asking residents to reduce their watering to 1 day a week.

St. Cloud and much of Central Minnesota is in a severe drought. St. Cloud currently allows for watering once a week on the same day your garbage is picked up. Mayor Dave Kleis says watering of new trees and yards are still allowed with city approval.
