Growing up a Minnesota Twins fan I couldn't get enough baseball whether it was catching a game on the radio, TV, or in person at the Metrodome during my time in high school, I couldn't get enough baseball in my life. As I grew up my total interest in baseball waned, and my interest in other areas grew. While I might not be as big of a fan as I had been, I still follow the game and a sentence in a recent ESPN article caught my attention. The article referenced a Minnesota-based company playing a small part in MLB's move to Las Vegas.

The article in question discussed how the A's are closer to calling Las Vegas home, as the team wrapped up playing in the Oakland Coliseum this past season. The sentence, which may contain more information than most readers would care to know, references a Twin Cities-based bank that helped make the team's move to Vegas work.

"Dean also said club owner John Fisher increased the previous pledge of his family's money to $1.1 billion. Dean said U.S. Bank and Goldman Sachs will offer a $300 million loan. Fisher still hopes to attract investors in Las Vegas and elsewhere who would purchase equity in the team, according to Dean."

That's right, U.S. Bank which is headquartered in downtown Minneapolis, is part of the _______ A's possible move to Las Vegas, albeit in a very small way with a loan.

I found this interesting as I knew U.S. Bank had some influence 'out West' but I didn't realize just how big 'our bank' had gotten.

Having a hand in some of the financing for an MLB team can mean big business and return for the bank, which of course has paid for the official naming rights of where the Minnesota Vikings play.

If everything goes according to plan, the A's will be playing in Las Vegas under a domed sky starting in 2028, and who knows maybe they will also be playing at a U.S. Bank named too...
