When I was a younger kid, I was enthralled with scary stories. I used to read the Goosebumps series quite a bit. That kept me occupied until I discovered an author who was much more frightening. Of course, I’m talking about the master of macabre himself. The one and only – Edgar Allan Poe.

Lets face it, Stephen King has nothing on this guy. He was the first prolific Horror writer. His works have more or less sculpted modern day horror. Since Halloween is upon us, today we’re going to take a look at Poe’s top 10 stories to read this weekend. Here we go.

  1. The Pit and The Pendulum
  2. The Cask of Amontillado
  3. Murders in the Rue Morgue
  4. The Masque of the Red Death
  5. The Tell Tale Heart
  6. The Gold Bug
  7. The Facts in the case of M. Valdemar
  8. Berenice
  9. The Fall of the House of Usher
  10. The Black Cat
