What Fall Smells Like In Central Minnesota

I spent the afternoon working on crafting projects on my porch. The day was too nice to spend inside, but I also had a couple of projects I wanted to tackle. As I was painting my little heart out, I inhaled a smell that can only mean fall: a pile of leaves.

I'm not sure where this smell came from as the trees in my neighborhood are just starting to turn colors and the leaves haven't began to fall yet, but it was that smell for sure. You can't mistake that smell for anything else. But it got me thinking, what does fall smell like in Central Minnesota?
