80s in the Forecast Next Week (This is Not a Drill)

The first two weeks of May have been much cooler than normal. Average highs for the first part of May are in the mid to upper sixties, while we've been struggling to reach fifty.

At the end of April, the National Weather Service released the climate outlook for the first half of May, calling for below normal temps -- and they were right.

We will begin a slow warning trend today. High temperatures will finally approach sixty today and tomorrow. Then we'll get close to seventy on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

But wait, there's more.

We could finally see our first eight of the season on Monday, with the forecast for next Tuesday calling for a high of 84, Wednesday will see 82, and then back into the 70s for the rest of next week.

The National Weather Service adds:

There's a pretty strong signal that the weather pattern will change and bring warmer weather next week, with nearly all of the eastern 2/3rds of the nation being above normal. That means many locations across the Upper Midwest could see their first 80s of the season Monday and Tuesday!

We should also have seen our final Freeze Warning of the season this morning.
