CENTRAL MINNESOTA TOWN BALL REPORT

Completing my eleventh year at 1390 Granite City Sports with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) reports. Including game summaries, upcoming schedules, league standings, tournament summaries and an occasional special interest feature. The plan is to continue to include: Arrowhead West/Section 2B: Cold Spring Springers, Moorhead Brewers, Moorhead Mudcats, Hamel Hawks, and Sobieski Skis, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South and Stearns County, New London-Spicer, Paynesville Pirates the Regal Eagles of the County Line League teams and the Foley Lumberjacks formerly of the Sauk Valley League, now the Victory League along with Sobieski Skis, St. Stephen Steves, Avon Lakers, St. Wendel Saints, Opole Bears, Freeport Black Sox, Royalton River Dogs and Nisswa Lightning, throughout their league playoffs, regional and state.

EXHIBITION GAMES

CLEARWATER RIVER CATS 10 FORT RIPLEY REBELS     6

The Rivers Cats from the Sauk Valley league defeated their foe from the Victory league, they out hit them fourteen to eight, including five doubles and a home run. Their starting pitcher was Andy Nefs, he threw five innings to earn the win. He gave up seven hits, six runs, six walks and he recorded four strikeouts. Cody Thiery threw two innings, he gave up one hit and he recorded three strikeouts.

The River Cats offense was led by Jordan Picka, he went 2-for-4 with a double for four RBIs and he had a stolen base. Bryan “Big Mac” McCallum went 3-for-4 with a double for two RBIs and he scored a run. Samson Schlegel went 2-for-4 with a double for a RBI had a stolen base and he scored a pair of runs. Jake Carper went 2-for-4 for a RBI and Preston Schlegel went 2-for-3, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Zeus Schlegel went 1-for-4 with a double for a RBI, a stolen base and he scored a run and Kaden Haselius went 1-for-2 with a double and he scored a run. Ty Carper went 1-for-3 for a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored two runs and Jack Grell earned a walk.

The Rebels starting pitcher was Adam Jensen, he threw 6 1/3 innings, he gave up ten hits, six runs, one walk and he recorded five strikeouts. Brett Kramer threw 1/3 of an innings, he gave up three hits, four runs and two walks.  Jay Schafer threw 1/3 of an inning, he gave up one hit.

The Rebels offense was led by Bill Sather, he went 2-for-4 for three RBIs and Nick Jelacie went 1-for-3 for a RBI and he earned a walk. Alex Happojaki went 2-for-3, he had a walk and he scored a run and Adam Jensen went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and he scored a run. Bryce Flanagan went 1-for-4, Josh Hukriede had a walk he was hit by a pitch and he scored two runs, Seth Vagts had two walks and he scored a run and Brett Kramer had a walk and he scored a run.

SAUK RAPIDS CYCLONES 6 COLD SPRING ROCKIES 4

The Cyclones from the Sauk Valley League defeated their Central Valley league for the Rockies, they out hit them ten to nine, including a pair of doubles. The Cyclones were aided by seven walks.  The starting pitcher was Noah Jensen, he threw five innings, he gave up two hits, six walks and he recorded three strikeouts. Alex Harren closed it out with four innings of relief, he gave up seven hits, four runs, one walk and he recorded three strikeouts.

The Cyclones offense was led by Terrance Moody, he went 3-for-5 with a double for two RBIs. Noah Jensen went 2-for-4 for two RBIs and he scored a run and Luke Pakkala went 2-for-4 with a double for a RBI. Jeff Solorz went 1-for-3 for two RBIs, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Mason Fincher had a sacrifice fly for a RBI. Dom Mathies and Alex Harren both went 1-for-4 and both scored a run and Owen Arndt earned a walk and he scored a run.

The Rockies starting pitcher Jake Brinker threw five innings, he gave up six hits, four runs, two walks and he recorded six strikeouts. Connor Shoborg threw three innings, he gave up four hits, two runs and he recorded three strikeouts.

The Rockies offense was led by Brady Linn, he went 1-for-5 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run and Brady Weber went 1-for-4 with a double for a RBI. Cole Fuchs went 1-for-4 for a RBI and he earned a walk,Evan Acheson and Brady Leverington both earned a pair of walks. Thad Lieser went 3-for-5 and he scored a run and player/manager David Jonas went 2-for-5 and he scored a run. Jordan Neu went 1-for-4, he earned a walk, he had a stolen base and he scored a run and Hunter Fuchs earned a walk.

PAYNESVILLE BULLDOGS  6 GREENWALD CUBS    0

The Bulldogs from the County Line defeated their foe from Stearns County the Cubs. They out hit them ten for five, including a pair of doubles and a triple, they played very solid defense. Their starting pitcher was Bennet Evans, he threw six innings to earn the win. He gave up two hits, three walks and he recorded five strikeouts. Sam Oehrlein threw two innings, he gave up three hits and he recorded four strikeouts. Griffin Bjerke threw one inning, he gave up a walk and he recorded three strikeouts.

The Bulldogs offense was led by Abe Bullard, he went 1-for-3 with a double for a RBI and Grady Fuchs was credited for a pair of RBIs. Garrett Leusink went 3-for-4 with a double  and Grayson Fuchs earned a walk, he had a stolen base and he scored a run. Blake Vagle went 2-for-4 with a triple, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Sam Oehrlein went 1-for-4 and he scored a run. Drew Tangen went 2-for-5, with a stolen base and he scored a pair of runs, Reed Johnson went 1-for-3 and Griffin Bjerke earned a walk and he scored a run.

9TH ANNUAL FARMING FLAMES TOURNAMENT

SAUK CENTRE TITANS 5 COLD SPRING SPRINGERS   4

The Titans of the Resorters League defeated the Springers from the Sauk Valley League in the first round of the Farming tournament. They were out hit by Springers eleven to five, but a huge sixth inning gave them the edge. They put up five runs to give them the lead and some key defensive plays. Their starting pitcher was Shane Trattles, he threw a complete game to earn the win. He gave up eleven hits, four runs, one walk and he recorded seven strikeouts.

The Titans offense was led by Shane Trattles went 1-for-3 with a double for a RBI and Eli Fletcher was credited for two RBIs and he scored a run. Andrew Primus went 1-for-2, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Andrew Rousslange earned a walk, he was credited for a RBI and he scored a run. Jake Haskamp went 1-for-3 and he scored run, Derek Holm went 1-for-4 and he scored a run and Alex Kowski earned a walk.

The Springers starting pitcher was Beck Loesch, he threw a six innings, he gave up five hits, five runs, three walks and he recorded six strikeouts. Their offense was led by Jeron Terres, he went 2-for-4 for a RBI and Mason Primus went 1-for-3 for a RBI and he scored a run. Brian Hansen went 1-for-4 for a RBI and Nick Penick was credited for a RBI. Brad Olson went 2-for-2, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Drew Bulson went 2-for-4. Drew VanLoy went 1-for-3 and he scored a run, Paul Dorr went 1-for-4, Hank Bulson went 1-for-1 and Brady Schafer earned a walk and he was hit by a pitch.

SARTELL STONE-PONEYS   9 FARMING FLAMES    3

The Stone-Poneys from the Sauk Valley League defeated their Stearns County foe the Flames. They out hit them nine to five, including three doubles and a triple and they were aided by nine walks. The starting pitcher for the Stone-Poneys was Chase Heying, he threw 5 1/3 innings to earn the win. He gave up five hits, three runs, three walks and he recorded seven strikeouts. Drew Geiger closed it out with 1 2/3 innings in relief, he retired the five batters he faced.

The Stone-Poneys offense was led by Zack Overboe, he went 2-for-3 with a double for two RBIs and he scored a run. Josh Tinklenberg went 2-for-4 with two doubles for a RBI and he scored a run and Calen O’Connell earned a walk and he was credited for a two RBIs. Gavan Schulte went 1-for-3 for a RBI and he earned a walk and Braeden Dykhuizen went 1-for-4 and he scored a run. Player/Manager Jeff Amann was hit by a pitch and given credit for a pair of RBIs and Shawn Lindsay went 1-for-3, he earned a walk and he scored a pair of runs. Dylan Simones went 1-for-3 with a triple, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Jordan Fish earned a walk and he had a stolen base. Will Kranz earned two walks, he had a pair of stolen bases and he scored a run, Gavin O’Connell went 1-for-1, Blake Haus earned a walk and he scored a pair of runs and Will Brinkerhoff earned a walk.

The Flames starting pitcher was Will Eiynck, he threw threw innings, he gave up six hits, seven runs and six walks. Brayden Eiynck threw four innings, he gave up three hits, two runs, three walks and he recorded four strikeouts.

Their offense was led by Robert Schleper, he went 1-for-2 for a RBI and Tylor Schroeder earned a walk and he was credited for a RBI.  Ethan Borgerding went 2-for-3 with a double and Adam Winkels earned a walk and he scored a run. Isaac Nett went 1-for-2, he earned a walk and he scored two runs and Coby Mergen went 1-for-2.

The Titans from the Resorters league defeated the Sauk Valley league the Stone Poneys. They did out  hit them twelve to nine collected three doubles. Their starting pitcher was Dylan Haskamp, he threw seven innings to earn the win. He gave up nine hits, four runs, three walks and he recored four strikeouts.

Their offense was led by Andrew Primus, he went 3-for-4 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run and Jake Haskamp went 1-for-4 for two RBIs and he scored a run. Andrew Rousslange went 1-for-4 for two RBIs and he scored two runs and Alex Kowski went 1-for-2 with a double and he was hit by a pitch. Dylan Haskamp went 3-for-4 and he scored  two runs and Shawn Hayunga went 1-for-2. Derek Holm went 1-for-4 and he scored a run and Shawn Trattles went 1-for-3 and he scored a run.

The Stone Poneys starting pitcher was Nate Nierenhausan, he threw five innings, he gave up ten hits, five runs and he recorded three strikeouts. Dylan Simones threw one inning, he gave up two hits and one run.

The Stone Poneys offense was player/manager Jeff Amann, he went 1-for-2 for a RBI, he earned a walk and he scored a run. The starting pitcher was Nick Penick, he threw 5 1/3 innings to earn the win. He gave up four hits, two runs, one walk and he recorded eight strikeouts and Jack Arnold closed it out with 1 2/3 innings in relief.

The Springers offense was led by Brady Schafer, he went 2-for-4 with a home run for three RBIs, he had a pair of stolen bases and he scored a trio of runs. Drew Bulson went 2-for-3 with a double for a RBI, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Brad Olson went 2-for-3 for two RBIs and Brian Hansen went 1-for-4 and he scored a run. Jack Arnold went 1-for-3 and he scored a run, Drew VanLoy went 1-for-1 and he earned a pair of walks and Beck Loesch went 1-for-1.

The Flames starting pitcher No. 16 threw two innings, he gave up five hits and two runs. No. 14 threw two innings, he gave up three hits, three runs and two walks and No. 20 threw two innings, he gave up two hits and one run.

Their offense was led by No. 13 he went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and he scored two runs. No. 10 went 1-for-2 and he was hit by a pitch, No. 22 was credited for a RBI, No. 27 went 1-for-3 and No. 34 was hit by a pitch.

JORDAN BREWERS 8 ST. JOSEPH JOES   0

The Brewers out hit the Joes twelve to two including five doubles and they played very solid defense. Nate Beckman started on the mound, he threw six innings, he gave up one hit, no walks and he recorded four strikeouts. Turner Storm threw one inning to close it out, he gave up one hit and he recorded one strikeout.

The Brewers offense was led by Turner Storm, he went 3-for-3 with two doubles for three RBIs and he scored a run. Brandon Arnold went 2-for-3 with two doubles for a RBI, he had a stolen base and he scored a pair of runs. Jake Lucas went 1-for-1 with a sacrifice fly for two RBIs, he had a stolen base and he scored a run. Afton Koch went 2-for-4 for a RBI and he scored a run and Steve Beckman went 1-for-4 and he scored a run. Austin Lucas went 1-for-1 with a double for a RBI, Scott Hollingsworth went 1-for-3 and he scored a run, Josh Altermatt went 1-for-3 and Alex Beckman scored a run.

The Joes starting pitcher was Blake Kilanowski, he threw five innings, he gave up twelve hits and eight runs. Josh Wood threw two innings, he gave up one walk and he recorded three strikeouts. The Joes offense was led by Lukas Theisen, he went 2-for-3.

PEARL LAKE LAKERS 6 ANDOVER ACES 2

The Lakers from the Central Valley League defeated the Aces from the Metro Minny League. They out hit the Aces nine to three with five players collecting hits. They played very good defense in support of their starting pitcher Andrew Schmitt, he threw 6 1/3 innings to earn the win. He gave up three singles, two runs, five walks and he recorded five strikeouts.

The Lakers offense was led by Nick Schmitt, he went 3-for-3 for two RBIs, a stolen base and he scored a run. Blake Kunkel went 2-for-3 for two RBIs and Alex Lenzmeier went 1-for-3. No. 12 went 2-for-2, he earned a walk and he scored three runs, No. 5 went 1-for-3 and he scored a run. Adam Braun earned three walks, he had a stolen base and he scored a run.

The Aces starting pitcher was Josh Stoll, he threw three innings, he gave up three hits, three runs, three walks and he recorded eight strikeouts. Benji Bruce threw 1 1/3 innings, he gave up four hits, two runs, one walk and he recorded three strikeouts. Jake Dujmovic threw 1 2/3 innings, he gave up two hits and one run.

Their offense was led by Sam Plohasz, he went 1-for-3 with a walk and Jake Dujmovic went 1-for-2 with a walk.  Tyler Brick went 1-for-2 and he was hit by a pitch, Owen Dylong and Charlie Hova both had a walk and scored a run and Anthony Kuzina had a walk.

COLD SPRING SPRINGERS 12 PEARL LAKE LAKERS 1

The Springers from the Sauk Valley league defeated the Lakers from the Central Valley league, they out hit them thirteen to three. Including three home runs and a double and very solid defense. Their starting pitcher was veteran righty Zach Femrite, he threw five innings to earn the win, he gave up three hits, one walk and he recorded nine strikeouts.

The Springer offense was led by Brian Hansen, he went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs, one a grand slam for seven huge RBIs. Brad Olson went 2-for-3 with a home run for three RBIs and he scored a pair of runs. Zach Femrite went 2-for-2. With a double for two RBIs, he earned a walk and he scored a pair of runs. Drew Bulson went 2-for-3 and he scored a pair of runs and Brady Schafer went 1-for-4. Jeron Terres went 2-for-2, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a pair of runs and Mason Primus scored a run. Nick Penick went 1-for-3, he earned a walk and he scored a run.

The Lakers starting pitcher Justin Kunkel threw 1 2/3 innings, the pitching stats were not accurate. Their offense was led by Adam Braun, he went 1-for-2 for a RBI, Alex Lenzmeier went 1-for-2 with a double. Justin Kunkel went 1-for-1, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run and Nick Schmitt earned a walk.

SARTELL STONE-PONEYS 3 ST. JOSEPH JOES 2

Two teams from the Sauk Valley League battled for eight innings, with the Stone Poneys, they were out hit six to seven.  They collected a pair of doubles, one for the walk off win in the bottom of the eighth. Their starting pitcher was Gavan Schulte, he threw eight innings, he gave up seven hits, one run, one walk and he recorded six strikeouts.

The Stone Poneys offense was led by Gavan Schulte went 1-for-3 with a double for two RBIs and he earned a pair of walks. Gavan’s double in the eighth inning gave the Stone Poneys the walk off win. Dylan Simones went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and he scored a run. Will Kranz went 1-for-3 and he scored a run and Jordan Fish went 1-for-2 and he scored a run. Kaden Lewis went 1-for-3 and Blake Haus was credited for a RBI.

The Joes starting pitcher was Lukas Theisen, he threw seven innings, he gave up six hits, two runs, two walks and he recorded six strikeouts.

The Joes offense was led by Tanner Staller, he went 2-for-4 with a RBI and Noah Bissett went 1-for-4 with a double for a RBI. Tanner Blommer went 2-for-3 with a trio of stolen bases and he scored a run and Lukas Nyberg scored a run.  John Huebsch went 1-for-2 and he earned a walk and Andrew Rott went 1-for-3.

STEARNS COUNTY vs. VICTORY LEAGUE

AVON LAKERS 6 SPRING HILL CHARGERS 0

The Lakers from the Victory league defeated their Stearns County foe the Chargers, they each collected five hits. The Lakers were aided by eleven walks and they got a very good pitching performance from Matt Pichelmann, he threw a complete game to earn the win. He gave up five hits, no walks and he recorded six strikeouts.

The Lakers offense was led by Joe Dolan, he went 1-for-2 for a RBI, he earned a pair of walks and he scored two runs. Cole Wellmann had a sacrifice fly and he earned a pair of walks, he was credited for two RBIs. Reese Gregory earned a walk and he was credited for two RBIs and Elian Mezquita went 1-for-3. Player/manager Caleb Curry went 1-for-1, he earned a walk and he scored a run and Ryan Janzen earned a walk, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a pair of runs. Peyton Randall and Jack Theisen both went 1-for-2, Elliot Allen earned three walks, Nick Merdan earned a walk and Nathan Sand scored a run.

The starting pitcher for the Chargers was Nathan Terres, he threw four innings, he gave up five hits, five runs, seven walks and he recorded a strikeout. Dylan Gertken threw one inning, he gave up one run and four walks.

Their offense was led by Ethan Meyer, he went 1-for-3 with a double and Dylan Gertken went 1-for-2 with a stolen base. Jamie Terres went 1-for-3, Nathan Terres and Luke Dehmer both went 1-for-2.

ST. MARTIN MARTINS 4 SOBIESKI SKIS 1

The Martins from the Stearns County League defeated the Skis from the Victory league, they out hit them eight to three. Their starting pitcher was No. 27, he threw five innings, he gave up two hits, three walks and he recorded five strikeouts. No. 16 threw two innings to close it out, he gave up one hit, one run, one walk and he recorded one strikeout.

The Martins offense was led by No. 18, he went 2-for-3 for two RBIs and No. 27 went 1-for-2 for a RBI and he earned a walk. No. 7 went 2-for-3, he earned a walk, he had stolen bases and he scored a pair of runs and No. 3 went 1-for-1 for a RBI and he earned a walk. Carter Thelen went 1-for-3, Bryan Schlangen was hit by a pitch and he scored a pair of runs. Tate Winter went 1-for-1, Ryan Messer, Avery Schmitz and Jake Lauerall earned a walk and No. 8 was hit by a pitch.

The Skis starting pitcher was Beau Thoma, he threw four innings, he gave up six hits, three runs, five walks and he recorded five strikeouts. Matt Filippi threw two innings, he gave up two hits, one run, one walk and he recorded two strikeouts.

The Skis offense was led by Matt Baier, he went 1-for-3 with a double and Beau Thoma went 1-for-3 and he scored a run. Collin Kray went 1-for-1, he earned a pair of walks and he had a stolen base, Collin Eckman had a sacrifice fly and he earned a walk, he was credited for a RBI and Hunter Pilippi earned a walk.

The Saints from the Victory League defeated the Saints from the Stearns County league, they out hit them four to two. They collected a pair of doubles and they played very good defense. Their starting pitcher Austin Dickmann threw a compete game to earn the win, he gave up two hits and he recorded eight strikeouts.

The Saints offense was led by Rolando Ramos, he went 1-for-3 for a RBI and Brandon Dickmann was credited for a RBI. Austin Dickmann went 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and Tyler Huls had a stolen base and he scored a run. Chase Lyon went 1-for-1 with a stolen base Tanner Reis earned a walk, he had a stolen base and he scored a pair of runs and Logan Harren earned a walk.

The Saints starting pitcher was Will VanBeck, he threw 2 1/3 innings, he gave up one hit, one run, one walk and he recorded four strikeouts. Riley Meyer threw two innings, he gave up one hit, one run, one walk and he recorded five strikeouts. Wyatt Steffensen threw one inning, he gave up one hit, one run and he recorded two strikeouts. Their offense was led by Gavin Sampson, he went 1-for-3 with a double and Blaine Fischer went 1-for-3.

NEW MUNICH SILVER STREAKS 1 UPSALA BLUE JAYS 0

The Silver Streaks from the Stearns County league defeated the Blue Jays from the Victory league, they collected four hits and played very good defense. No. 20 started and he threw a complete game, he gave up four hits, three walks and he recorded strikeouts.

Their offense was led by No. 24, he went 1-for-3 with a double and No. 11 went 1-for-2 and he earned a walk. No. 20 went 1-for-2, he was hit twice by a pitch and he had three stolen bases, No. 14 went 1-for-4 and No. 0 earned two walks and he scored a run.

The Blue Jays starting pitcher was Nick Frieler threw three innings, he gave up three hits, one walk and he recorded three strikeouts. Jack Primus threw four innings, he gave up two hits, one run, two walks and he recorded seven strikeouts.

Their offense was led by Brandon Welinski, CJ Clear and Hunter Moore all went 1-for-3. Justin Cichon went 1-for-1 and he had a pair of walks and Jeremy Mugg had a walk.

The River Cats from the Sauk Valley League defeated the Black Sox from the Victory league, they out hit them seven to six, including a home run and a pair of doubles. Cody Thiery started on the mound, he threw a complete game to earn the win. He gave up six hits, three runs, three walks and he recorded ten strikeouts.

The River Cats was led on offense by Preston Schlegel, he went 2-for-3 with a double for two RBIs, a stolen base and he scored a run. Alex Smith went 1-for-3 with a home run for one RBI and Adam Smith went 1-for-3. Cullen Henkemeyer went 1-for-3 with a double and he scored a run and Nick Proshek earned a walk. Ty Carper went 1-for-3 and he scored a run.

The Black Sox starting pitcher was Andrew Kerzman, he threw five innings, he gave up seven hits, four runs, no walks and he recorded two strikeouts. Carter Neuenschwander threw one inning, he gave up a walk and he recored a strikeout.

The Black Sox offense was led by Ike Sawyer, he went 1-for-3 with a home run for three RBIs and Matt Johnson went 1-for-3. Carter Neunschawnader went 1-for-3 and he earned a walk and Mason Toutges went 1-for-3. Ben Millard went 1-for-4 and Bryan Benson earned two walks. Dominic Ritter went 1-for-2 and Ben Mettenburg earned a walk and he scored a run.

BELLE PLAINE TIGERS 10 CLEARWATER RIVER CATS 4

The Tigers defeated the River Cats, they out hit them inline for seven. They were aided by nine walks and they had seven players collect hits. Their starting pitcher was Josh Terrio, he threw five innings, he gave up three hits, three runs, three walks and he recorded three strikeouts. Garrett Boblitt threw two innings to close it out, he gave up four hits, one run, one walk and he recorded one strikeout.

The Tigers offense was led byTed Hohn, he went 2-for-4 for four RBIs and he scored a run and Ryan Bradenburg went 2-for-3 for two RBIs, a walk and he scored a run.. Tyler O’Brien went 2-for-4 for two RBIs, he was hit by a pitch, he had two stolen bases and he scored two runs. Jared Miller went 1-for-1 for a RBI, he had two walks, he was hit by a pitch and he scored two runs. Derek Dahlke went 1-for-2, with a walk, he was hit by a pitch, a stolen base and he scored two runs and Colton Kerhow he two walks and he was hit by a pitch. Steve VanVleet threw three innings, he gave up one hit and one walk. Jason Axelberg threw one inning, he gave up a walk and he recorded two strikeouts.
