It appears that one of our Eagles on the Minnesota DNR Eagle Cam has stopped leaving the nest, and you know what that means!

Each year, we wait in anticipation to find out if our EagleCam Eagles have laid their eggs in the nest yet. After the recent warmup, it makes you wonder if that could have sped up the process?

EAGLE CAM CAPTURES EAGLE SETTLING IN ON NEST

As of yesterday, it appears that at least on President's Day, Monday, February 16th, one of the eagle pair is now staying IN THE NEST. This typically happens once an egg or multiple eggs have been laid, so I believe that we have at least one egg in the nest at this time.

EGGS IN THE NEST?

Now...I could be wrong. We don't get a close-up view of the EagleCam nest this year, as the Eagles that we are watching were actually thinking about two nesting spots, and ultimately chose the one that was further away from the cameras...go figure.

EAGLES HAVE BEEN PREPARING THEIR NEST

Regardless, we've been watching the Eagles prepare their nest with softer materials for the last few weeks, and spending more and more time together.

Now that we see just one eagle in the nest most of the time, it probably means that if all goes well, the nest doesn't fall out of the tree. Other predators don't reach it, and the current Eagles keep a constant vigilance over their young; we should probably have some baby eagles within about 34-49 days.
