Living in Minnesota, many people would think that your favorite season would be either Summer or Winter.  There are so many things to do with our 10,000 lakes in both of those seasons.  But honestly, my favorite season is Fall.  Always has been.  The only downfall for me is the fact that it goes into Winter which is actually my least favorite.  And that only happened as an adult. Like when I had to drive in Winter conditions.  Not the best.

But Fall in Minnesota.  It's the best time of the year, in my opinion.  I'm talking about the Fall  when  the leaves are turning, and it's a nice sunny day...  hoodie or light jacket weather.  Perfect.

What else is great, is all of the hiking and biking trails that you can enjoy around the state, but mostly here in Central Minnesota.  The colors will be at peak within the next couple of weeks and it's a great time to be outside and just enjoy what Minnesota can be in the Fall weeks.  I'd say months, but you know how that usually goes.  Winter is just greedy.

Depending on where you go, there are so many trails  around the area.  Some of them link up to eachother and there can be literally miles and miles of areas to explore.

Root River State Trail.  This is part of a much larger trail system that is sometimes referred to as the "Cadillac of Trails".

Paul Bunyan State Trail. This one is like over 100 miles. That will take a bit.

Heartland State Trail. This  one goes past a lot of lakes with access to many of them.

Willard Munger State Trail. This one follows the railway route that saved a lot of people during the fires in Hinkley and Cloquet.

Lake Wobegon Trail.  That one is probably the most familiar to us here in Central MN.

Mesabi Trail. This one will take you across a lot of the Iron Range.  Perfect for seeing the Fall colors earlier in the season.

Cannon Valley Trail.  This one might be one to plan on going to later in the season, as it's  in Southern MN.  Closer to Red Wing and Cannon Falls. Lots of great scenery including overhanging cliffs and some wetlands.

There are a few more trails available for great photo ops and just some outdoor activity and exercise.  Get outside as much as possible before (if you are like me) it's time to hibernate.

Cheers!
