From a 10'x20' tent to a 28' trailer to its own brick and mortar in Becker, business just keeps booming for Gess What's Cookin'!

Food trucks are all the rage these days. From burgers to tacos, asian fusion to seafood, ice cream to mini donuts and everything in-between -- chances are good you can find a food truck somewhere for just about anything you're hankering for. Many of them work the brewery circuit -- rotating and setting up at breweries that serve drinks but not food. Oftentimes you'll find them at various arts and crafts festivals, music festivals, sporting events and large outdoor group events.

While I don't know the food truck scene well myself, there are certainly names I recognize when I hear or see them -- ODB's Foodtruck, Pharoah's Gyros, Mario's Italian Kitchen, The Brick Oven Bus and Mac's Mini's to name a few. Another name I hear frequently is Gess What's Cookin'. Since 2015 Gess What's Cooking -- named after owners Dave and Joy Gess -- has been serving up a variety of gourmet burgers, sandwiches, appetizers and more all over Minnesota -- from the parking lot of Lupulin Brewing Co. in Big Lake to Canterbury Park in Shakopee. Recognized in 2018 as “Best Food Truck in Minnesota” by WCCO, it seems that the Big Lake-based good truck has only continued seeing success, with a brick-and-mortar location being the owners' latest endeavor.

A facebook page for Gess What's Cookin Restaurant  & Catering announced on July 26 a restaurant would be opening inside the Becker Furniture World strip mall in Becker.

An update July 29 states that job applications can be found at the front desk of Becker Furniture. Gess What's Cookin' is currently looking for cooks and front end staff. Coffee knowledge is a bonus as they look to include "fancy coffee drinks" on the menu.

While earlier updates to the Facebook page suggested a hopeful open in early August, there's been no announcement from Gess What's Cookin' that the Becker location is open yet as of mid-August. Continue to watch the Facebook page for future updates.
