The Granite City Lumberjacks broke out the brooms in their first-round playoff match-up with the Willmar Warhawks. The 'Jacks won big both on Friday and Saturday nights and are now getting ready for their 2nd round match-up. Here's what we know about the 2nd round, and a recap of this weekend's games.

On Friday night the Lumberjacks were at home at the Miller Buick GMC Arena, and they welcomed in the Warhawks of Willmar for a first-round best-of-three-games series. The Lumberjacks got the win 5-2.

The Lumberjacks didn't take their feet off the accelerator Saturday night in Willmar as the Jacks beat Willmar 6-1, to wrap up that series in just two games.

Going into the series there was some chippiness between the two teams, but that didn't seem to make a difference as the Lumberjacks tallied 11 goals in two games.

What's Up Next For The Lumberjacks?

The Granite City Lumberjacks are now going to go up against the Minnesota Moose, who play out of Blaine. The Moose were able to defeat the Alexandria Blizzard 2 games to 1, and will be venturing up I-94 to the sawmill for another series, with the winner advancing to Missouri to play for a championship!

The Minnesota Moose has been a bit of a thorn in the side of the Lumberjacks this year as the Moose have bested the Lumberjacks 5 of 8 games they two have played this year, however, the Jacks dominated back on February 28th winning 9-1 over the Moose.

It's a big series for the Lumberjacks, and if you can show up Friday night and bring the noise, hopefully, the Lumberjacks will be able to leave Saturday with a win under their breezers and handle business down in Blaine to earn another sweep, and rest up for the final push in Missouri, for the Fraser Cup.

Game time Friday night at the Miller Buick GMC Arena is 7:30pm, Saturday night in Blaine game time is 7:05pm, and if needed the action comes back here Sunday with game time slated for 6pm.
