There are some things that I find completely unbelievable.  Lots of paranormal activity, many things about space, flying cars being practical, etc.  Not that those things can't happen, but a nude beach in Minnesota?  That really does seem out there.  But here we are... or at least were.

IS THERE STILL A NUDE BEACH IN MINNESOTA

Apparently there is/was a nude beach in Minnesota.  They didn't exactly call it that, however.  The beach is HIDDEN BEACH.  Fitting name, right?  It was for an "alternative" beach experience. It was located off of Cedar Lake Road in Minneapolis.  It was kind of a haven for people who wanted something other than the more "commercial" beaches around the area.

Notably, Hidden Beach was once the Twin Cities’ only nude beach. In recent years, the city of Minneapolis has made efforts to improve Hidden Beach’s former, more subversive image by cracking down on alcohol use. However, the beach continues to attract a colorful cast of characters, from reggae musicians to skaters to tattooed twenty-somethings.

AFTER 2021, THE BEACH GOT A NEW NAME

The beach now has a new name.  It is now referred to as Cedar Lake East Beach.  This change from "Hidden Beach" came along in July of 2021.

You could look at this one of two ways.  One - that the city took away what was great about this beach because it was considered as an alternative.  But also, you could look at it like - great, now we all know about the other amenities that this beach offers.

OTHER REASONS WHY PEOPLE MAY FLOCK TO THIS BEACH IN THE SUMMER

...the beach gets its name for the winding pathways one must take in order to finally find the place.

The winding pathways would offer the more secluded area that people who want the more "alternative" beach experience would find this more attractive.  Oh, and it has it's very own mud pit.  If you are into that sort of thing.

Located east of the beach, visitors have the opportunity to slather themselves in the stuff and rinse off in the lake. According to local rumors, a regular known as “The Mud Man” will greet visitors hoping to get a little dirty.

Not sure that would be my jam, but a lot of people think that there are healing powers in mud.  Or - they just like playing in the mud and getting dirty.  Insert your own joke there.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
