Oh yes, the holidays. The time of year when you have every excuse to gorge yourself beyond all imagination. It’s the time of the year that we all pack on weight before New Years comes around and we make it our resolution to lose all of the weight that we just gained. It’s tradition.

But just how much weight do Americans gain in the winter? Studies say the average American gains seven to ten pounds in between Halloween and New Years Day. I find this terrifying but believable. Three months of candy and various other enormous meals you'll share with family and friends adds up after a few months.

What's worse is that most studies show that the majority of Americans will never lose the extra weight that they pack on during the holidays. Personally, this statistic will probably scare me away from some of the extra food this year. I’ll probably just stick to the salad bar.
