Minnesota-Based Life Time Fitness Cuts Access to Cable News Channels [WATCH]
Life Time Fitness is making major national headlines with their decision to take cable news off their gym TV's. The reason 'why' isn't what you'd think though.
Gyms around the country are busier than ever this time of year. With new year's resolution goals happening with people, Life Time Fitness is either a genius at marketing or just REALLY lucky with their timing.
There aren't any Life Time Fitness locations here in St. Cloud, but plenty of them in the Twin Cities, and all over the country. As one of the largest fitness chains in the country, they look at all aspects of their facilities, which also includes what's shown on the large televisions.
At the request of a large number of members, they announced that they will no longer have cable news channels shown on their TV's in the gym, which would include: Fox News, CNBC, MSNBC and CNN. They will, however, still show local new channels.
The decision is based on political reasons, literally. Cable news channels are either far left, or far right, even though most claim they're not. Much like it's not a great idea to talk about political views to people, which only sparks opinion heavy arguments, I can see where showing these channels can cause the same feelings!
There's honestly so many ways to watch your political news online anyways. Everybody's got their smartphone and earbuds, so have at it that way if you really need your "news fix" in the gym. For the rest of us, we'll just crank up the radio and enjoy our workouts that way.
