November Broke Numerous Weather Records in St. Cloud
As we move into the final month of 2020, it is worth looking back at November and realizing just how crazy of a month weather-wise it was. The National Weather Service shared a recap on Twitter:
Nov 2020 was a wild month! It will go down in the books with numerous warm record highs and lows in the first 8 days. Following a strong cold front that ended the record warmth, record snow fell in the Twin Cities on the 10th and over 7 inches fell in St. Cloud.
Specifically in St. Cloud, we had record high temperatures on November 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th. We also had record warm lows on November 7th and 8th, which posed a challenge for deer hunters trying their best to keep their harvest from spoiling. But for those of us (like me) who didn't see anything, it was a rather pleasant opening weekend being able to just wear a blaze orange ball cap and sweatshirt in the deer stand.
The following weekend sang a different tune. A good deal of snow fell between the hunting weekends and a cold wind moved in. The snow that fell on the 10th was actually a record snowfall for the Twin Cities, and in the St. Cloud area we saw about 7 inches.
We rounded out the month with a surprisingly pleasant Thanksgiving weekend. Typically there is some major storm that hinders travel, but sunny skies and cooler temperatures lasted through the end of the month.
November was a roller coaster. One minute my backyard was covered in snow, the next the grass seemed to be growing again. The only way to describe it is to say "it's 2020". Now let's see what December has in store for us.
