UPDATE 6/29/20 :This story was posted on June 26th, and Quarry Park had reached capacity before 11 am on the 27th and 28th as well.

As temperatures soar towards 90, jumping into the cool water at Quarry Park sounds extra inviting. But you may want to have a backup plan when it comes to cooling off.

The Stearns County Parks Facebook page has been updating people on the capacity status of the swimming quarries and they have been filling up fast this week.

On Wednesday, June 25th, the park had reached their capacity limit before 1 PM. At 4 PM there was a two-hour wait to get in, and at 7 PM there was no wait. Thursday, June 26th the park was full before noon.

They have been sharing these capacity updates with the message:

Limited entry to the park is in effect. No walk-ins will be allowed at that time. As one car leaves, another may enter. You may want to consider coming to the park another day. We apologize for the disappointment, but we are required to comply with Executive Order 20-74.

They also remind parents not to just drop their kids off as they will not be allowed in. The current capacity limit is 50% in the swimming quarries or 100 cars in the parking lot, whichever comes first.

This whole weekend is supposed to be sunny and almost 90 degrees, perfect swimming weather. If you want to take advantage of one of the best swimming holes in the state, you're going to want to be there early. Quarry Park and Nature Preserve opens at 8 AM every day.
