With all the technology that is available now, we’ve all seen or heard stories about how someone lost money because someone used technology to swindle them.

Scammers are good at using technological advances to get the upper hand because they know that not everyone understands how things work these days.

But there are some scammers that are apparently using “old fashioned” methods lately. So much so, that the Benton County Sheriff’s Office took to their “X” account warning people of what has been happening in their county.

People in the area have been getting phone calls from someone claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Department and that there is a warrant for the person they’re calling arrest.

Sheriff’s Officials say they will never call you on the phone about a warrant that has been issued for you or anyone else. They will also never call you and ask for money over the phone or through a website.

Something else that law enforcement officials will never do is ask you to pay any fees or fines with gift cards. Apparently, folks are still trying to use that one, and I guess it’s still working.

Remember when I referenced scammers using technology, they are also asking people to make payments with cryptocurrency or through pay platforms like PayPal. It would seem these scammers can be very convincing in getting people to use these.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office says that if you are contacted by someone that causes you concern about your standing with them, you should feel free to reach out to them.

They would also like to know if someone calls you using one of these methods. The more information they have on these matters, the better.
