Unfortunately for me, I’ve never been much of an athlete. My parents made me try every sport I could when I was growing up and I hated almost every second of it. I was chubby and un-coordinated, and would’ve been perfectly content with taking up basically any other activity than sports.

But there was one sport that I actually grew to love. I’m talking about the great American pastime – Baseball. I can’t exactly explain why I cared about Baseball and not any other sport, but for some reason I just had fun doing. I had great coached and fun teammates. Maybe that had something to do with it.

To this day I remember hitting my first homerun. It was a magical feeling and it’s still one of my fondest memories. If you have kids that play baseball, or even if you’d just like to relive your childhood and watch the younger generation keep the tradition of baseball going, now’s your chance.

The Crookston Classic Baseball Tournament is taking place at the Highland Sports Complex in Crookston from June 22nd to June 23rd for kids ages 10 through 12. There’s a three game guarantee for anyone who enters, plus a free outdoor movie and picnic. I know it’s a few months off, but I figured I tell you sooner than later so the kids can get some practice in.
