The “Corn Moon” Will be Rising Over Central MN on Tuesday

Typically the full moon in September is considered the "Harvest Moon", due to it being the time of year harvests typically happen, but not this year.

The full moon in September, set for the 2nd at 12:22 am is considered to be the "Corn Moon". According to the Farmers Almanac:

This full moon name is attributed to Native Americans because it marked when corn was supposed to be harvested.

The title Harvest Moon is saved for the full moon that falls closest to the Autumnal Equinox, which will be on October 1st. If we are going by moon phase farming, corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and wild rice are now ready for gathering.

The Old Farmers Almanac gave more insight on other names for this full moon:
