The Minnesota Twins (40-49) saw their five-game winning streak come to an end last night, falling to the Kansas City Royals 9-4 at Target Field.

Minnesota starter Aaron Slegers (1-1) was pounded for five runs -- recording just four outs before he was pulled in the second inning. Twins reliever Addison reed gave up three more runs in the ninth inning.

Brian Dozier scored early for the Twins with a solo home run in the bottom of the first. Eduardo Escobar drove in Minnesota's second run with a single in the third. The Twins added two more runs in the bottom of the ninth -- but it was too little, too late.
