Do Twins Fans Remember “Wally The Beerman”?
Today is opening day for baseball. For some folks, they take the day off from work and watch games at their favorite bar or at home if they get the channel. They may go to the stadium if their team is playing at home.

The start of baseball season is more than just cheering for their favorite team, it invokes emotions that come from memories of the past.
Whether it’s the memory of the weather turning warm enough to get outside and play with their friends or maybe playing catch with their dad or siblings in the yard, the start of baseball is more than just the start of another season.
Part of the memories could also be about going to games with their family or friends. The game was the featured attraction, but all the other aspects of being at the stadium generated memories as well. To be honest, being at the stadium and all that came with that probably generated more memories than the game itself.
If you went to Minnesota Twins games at the Metrodome, do you remember Wally the Beerman? He was a popular distributor of frosty refreshment for fans who were working up a thirst cheering on The Twins.
He was so popular in fact; it got the attention of NBC Nightly News hosted by Tom Brokaw. This video was shared earlier this month on the Facebook page The Twins Almanac.
Once you get past the shock that beer at a Major League Baseball Stadium once costs $2, this video gives you good insight to opening day being more than just the baseball season starting, it’s about the experiences you have during the season and the memories that are made.
Now let’s play ball. Go Twins!
