Governor Walz is set to make an announcement this afternoon regarding the status of students returning to the classrooms this academic year, and it isn't looking good.

Who I really feel for are the seniors in this situation. It is their last year and they are missing out on proms, final projects, last games and tournaments, and of course graduation.

Everyone seems to be at a loss on how to properly honor those grads, these are unprecedented times and there is no guide book on how to have a social distance graduation ceremony.

Wadena-Deer Creek did find a way to at least give their senior class some community recognition. The City of Wadena partnered with Wadena-Deer Creek Public Schools to create lamppost banners in downtown Wadena.

Banners cost $55 each and they are hoping to have one sponsored for each graduating senior. The City of Wadena is accepting the sponsorship checks in the city's dropbox. If the sponsorship is meant for a specific senior, sponsors are asked to leave a note.

One thing that isn't canceled is making our 2020 graduating class feel loved and honored. They've worked hard, and are just starting their adult lives and we wish them nothing but the best. Their senior year has been one of the craziest in recent history, and I have no doubts it is making them stronger people.
