Every day for the past few months, I've seen a pair of mallard ducks wandering around our work parking lot. I don't know much about ducks, but I'm assuming that somewhere around here, they must have a nest. I'm assuming they are wandering around our parking lot at 5 in the morning to draw attention away from their nest. But where would that nest be?

Is it possible that we may have to conduct a baby duck rescue from the roof? I'm trying to figure out where exactly these ducks would hide their eggs in a busy place like this?

THERE'S A DUCK!

What happens if a duck comes onto your property and lays eggs somewhere in your yard? Are you obligated to watch over those eggs, or can you go into predator mode and snatch them up for eating? (Sound terrible when you put it that way, doesn't it!)

No! I wouldn't do that...as a matter of fact, I'm not sure I've ever eaten a duck egg, but I hear they are pretty good.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU FIND A DUCK NEST IN YOUR YARD?

If you think you've found a duck nest in your yard, Ducks Unlimited says please leave it alone. It will probably be about the size of a round baking dish and about 1-2 inches deep. If you find an empty nest like this, leave it alone. The ducks will be laying their eggs within 1-3 days typically of creating their nest.

When they do finally lay their eggs, they lay about 9 eggs and it takes about a month for them to hatch, so it's not the end of the world if you have a family of ducks congregating in your back yard.  Ducks Unlimited said try to avoid the area completely until the eggs have hatched and are up and gone.

AN EAGLE CAM RECENTLY BECAME A DUCK CAM

WCCO/CBS Minnesota

The Minnesota DNR said that eagles were not using this nest so some ducks decided that it might be a nice place for a nest. Now you can watch ducks on the eagle cam! How exciting!
