Well this is fitting.  The Winter Carnival starts today and runs through February 3rd.  And it really couldn't be much colder.  Other years there has been the fear that the sculptures and such would possibly melt because it wasn't cold enough.  I guess we don't have to worry about that this year.

There are some fun events that run throughout the next week and a half.  And as their site says...

Since 1886, the Saint Paul Winter Carnival has brought family-friendly events and community pride to Saint Paul and the Twin Cities metro area. Through city-wide special events, fun activities and more, the Saint Paul Festival and Heritage Foundation celebrates winter like only Minnesotans can!

And that is absolutely the truth.  If we are known for having Winter (people in Southern states think it stays cold all year round) we might as well embrace that.  There are Ice Bars, music, kids and family activities, a hotdish competition, and of course the Ice Palace.
