Thinking that being buried in responsibilities somehow equals being dedicated and loyal to your job is the career-equivalent of Stockholm Syndrome.

Thank you, sir, may I please have another!

And if you're a Busy Bragger, you should know that your co-workers hate you and think you're an idiot, which is the exact opposite of a Busy Bragger's intent. Your co-workers will also feel less inclined to help you with your overabundance of All The Things.

Busy Braggers Are Stress Superspreaders

As if being a Busy Bragger wasn't enough, your bragging can be infectious: co-workers might feel the need to let their work cups runneth over to try to keep up, which can lead to workplace burnout.

Be Genuine, Even If You're Stressed

The study differentiates between Busy Braggers and workers who are legitimately stressed out. So if you're actually stressing about your responsibilities and need to vent to a confidant, don't feel like you have to hold back to avoid being seen as a Busy Bragger. Busy Braggers try to build themselves up by pretending that they're stressed out.
