Weird Al Yankovic once immortalized Darwin, MN for it's World's Largest Ball of Twine.

Now, Darwin, MN has immortalized Weird Al (as if he needed the help).

Over the weekend, the city of Darwin -- which really does host the World's Largest Ball of Twine -- named an alley after the singer/songwriter who once wrote a song titled ""The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota."

A nod to the funnyman's own sense of humor, the city renamed "Twine Ball Lane" as "Weird Alley."

Weird Al recognized the tribute by joking on social media that he'd "finally made it."

According to RoadSideAmerica.com, Ripley's Believe it or Not tried to purchase Darwin's ball of twine, but the offer was rejected. Ripley's instead purchased one of smaller size, building a museum around it in Branson, MO and naming it the World's Largest Ball of Twine (though RoadSideAmerica says it isn't).
