The Minnesota Regional Poison Control Agency took to social media this week to remind residents of the state residents of an important event on Saturday, October 25th. It’s another of the DEA Take Back dates where folks can get rid of outdated medicine and meds they no longer need.

A Google search says that as many as 60% of American homes have unused or outdated medications in their homes at a given time and a 2021 report conducted by a waste management company says that 63% unused medications are simply thrown in the trash, which is not the advised way to discard of medications.

These DEA Take Back drop off locations allow residents a safe way to get rid of those medications, so they are properly disposed of without the risk of them falling into the hands of those who wish to use them improperly. Too many times, law enforcement agencies see tragic results when medications unknowingly make their way out of a medicine cabinet.

Within a 50-mile radius of St. Cloud, here are the locations that will participate in the Drug Take Back program:

  • The Wright County Sheriff’s Office at Citizen’s State Bank in Montrose
  • The Wright County Sheriff’s Office at Coborn’s Grocery Store
  • The Princeton Police Department at the Police Department
  • The Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Department at the Detlef Community Center
  • The St. Francis Police Department at the Police Department
  • The Maple Grove Police Department at Cubs Foods

Residents will be able to turn in their outdated pills between 10am and 2pm on October 25th.
