Granite City Lumberjacks Fans Rally Together For Toys For Tots Fundraiser

It was a mostly forgettable weekend for Granite City Lumberjack's fans, as the team for the first time this year lost back-to-back games. One highlight of the weekend, though was the silent auction to raise money for Toys For Tots. Lumberjack fans raised around $640 with the proceeds going to purchasing toys for the Miller Buick GMC Toys for Tots drive.

The team kicked in an additional $360 to make it an even $1,000 for the guys to go out and buy toys for this year's Toys for Tots drive. The players will go out with Billet family members this week to purchase the toys with the silent auction money, you might see them roaming around Target today or tomorrow in their jerseys. If you see one or two of the guys, stop and say hi, and make sure you welcome them to the area, they will be here with us through March.

The action on the ice wasn't as exciting as the Jacks were beaten twice this weekend, a first for the team this year.

On Friday night the Lumberjacks welcomed the Willmar Warhawks into the woodshed, with the Warhawks walking out with a 3-1 win. Saturday saw the Minnesota Moose take the 'bus to St. Cloud' and come away with a win. The final between the Moose and Lumberjacks was 5-3.

The players and coaches can't dwell on the back-to-back L's as the team is back in action on Wednesday this week, taking on Willmar again this time in Willmar, with puck drop scheduled for 7:10pm.

The team then plays again on Friday and Saturday. Friday in Blaine at the Fogerty Arena against the Moose with a 7:05pm start time, and then they hop on the bus and ride up I-94 to Alexandria for a tussle with the Blizzard. Game time is set for 7:10.

It's a key matchup for the Lumberjacks as the Blizzard are in 2nd place, trailing the Jacks by just 4 points, so Granite City needs to stack W's like wood until Alexandria cools off.
