We had Tim & Jen from Bent Paddle Brewing Company in this week, and as always they bring us samples. We all tend to light up a bit when we see them coming around here. I was hoping they would bring in the new CBD+ Sparkling Water they introduced to the market recently. To my delight, they brought in several for us to try.

But then came the question from a lot of people. What will this CBD+ beverage taste like, and more importantly, what will it do to me? The CBD+ sparkling water is non-alcoholic and has 25 milligrams of CBD, which is non-psychoactive. But, the + in the name stands for 2mg of recently legalized THC allowed to be put in beverages and edibles. This THC which is completely derived from hemp can be psychoactive. You can trip on THC. If you have enough of it, that is.

In states where Marijuana is fully legal, a typical edible dose is 5-10 milligrams. So this 2mg is a pretty mild introduction. That's a good thing. If you take too much THC it can be a bad experience. Some of those bad experiences have had people swear off edibles altogether.

This was the first time I'd ever drank a beverage with any THC in it. I recently tried hemp sparkling water, and it really didn't have any effect on me. So I was kind of excited to see what this would do for me.

Bent Paddles CBD+ is their POG flavor. That stands for passion fruit, orange, and guava. It's very drinkable. If you like seltzers you'll like this one. I'm not going to lie, I've had some hemp sparkling water that has been downright gross. Not this POG from Bent Paddle, it's good.

So now we go the taste down, but what about how it makes you feel? As with eating or drinking any type of cannabinoid, it takes some time for the effect to kick in and it can be different for anyone. I started noticing a difference about 45 minutes after I drank it. I was feeling calm, slowing down a bit, and just more relaxed. It's hard to say if it made me hungry because it was lunchtime and I was hungry anyway.

Did I get high? Maybe just a touch, but nothing too noticeable. I would say it's actually a good amount. Enough that you feel the extra benefits of THC without going too far. It's a nice balance, and it helped me out with my productivity. When you're calm you can handle more tasks thrown at you without feeling stressed. It's kinda nice. Drinking a 12-ounce can of it made me feel pretty chill.

So to sum it up, this CBD+ is a hit. You feel good, it calms you down, and it tastes pretty darn good. They do have a new trucker blend coming soon that is just CBD without the THC, so stay tuned.
