If you'd like to hop your way through a hemp field, Minnesota's first (at least the first one I know of) hemp maze is officially open for the season. The farm announced in a Facebook post on Monday that the maze and related attractions had opened for the 2023 season.

Referred to as "Hemp Maze Minnesota", this attraction has been operating for a couple of years now at Willow's Keep Farm just south of Zumbrota, Minnesota. This Southeastern Minnesota farm leaned into the 2017 legalization of hemp in Minnesota to establish an attraction with a number of purposes.

On their website, they explain that Hemp Maze Minnesota was created "to educate and inform the public about the benefits of a vibrant hemp industry in Minnesota". While the headlining attraction is the maze, there are a number of additional things to see and do at the farm.

What is there to do at Hemp Maze Minnesota?

Hemp Maze

The first, and most obvious thing to do is the hemp maze. The maze opens every year in July, and stays open through October. It makes for a unique and interesting alternative to the traditional corn maze you might be used to come fall.

The maze costs $10 per person, and the farm owners ask that you wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes, being you'll be walking through a farm field.

Canna Disc Golf

Whether you're a seasoned disc golf pro or you just want to try it out, you can play at Hemp Maze Minnesota's disc golf course, located right at the farm. The course features 13 cannabis-themed holes. They encourage people to bring your own discs, though they do have new ones you can buy at the farm's store. In addition, they do have rental discs, which require a $5 deposit. They do ask that you bring cash for this.

Want to see the whole farm operation? Farm tours are available on the weekends and by appointment during their July-October season. Included is a golf cart tour of the farm fields, a tour of the farm's gardens, and entry into the hemp maze and disc golf course. These tours are $20 per person.

Hemp Maze Fright Farm

There are haunted corn mazes. Why not a Halloween hemp maze? Called Fright at the Farm, Willow's Keep Farm hosts an annual haunted attraction every October. They do regular haunts that feature special effects, projectors, spooky lighting, and animatronics, as well as blackout nights, where you get to find your way around a darkened maze with actors giving you a scare along the way.

They do say these fright nights are not recommended for young people under 10. They also provide Halloween fun events for people of all ages, including a Trick-Or-Treating event.

During your visit, you'll also have the opportunity to play "hemp hole" (like cornhole), enjoy a gourd walk, get a photo on a giant bench, and hit the gourd sling target range.
