Most of us have dreamed of winning the lottery. Then it's followed with those "what would I do with the money" thoughts.

I’ve had that conversation, both in my head and out loud, more times than I can count. The problem for me is that even though I talk about what I would do with a big lottery win, I rarely ever buy a ticket. And you know the saying, you can’t win if you don’t play.

Speaking of playing the lottery, where are the best places to buy lottery tickets in Minnesota. And when I say ‘best,’ I mean, where are the 'luckiest' cities to purchase tickets?

I decided to check to see where the big winners have come from recently. According to the Minnesota Lottery, these are the cities where $1,000,000+ winning lottery tickets have been sold in the last few years.

  • Ramsey: $14 million
  • Stillwater: $2 million
  • Hermantown: $1.6 million
  • White Bear Lake: $1.3 million
  • Crookston: $1 million
  • Mankato: $1 million
  • Big Lake: $1 million
  • Brooklyn Center: $1 million
  • Burnsville: $1 million
  • Eden Prairie: $1 million
  • Ely: $1 million

To find out precisely what locations these winning tickets were sold at, check the list on the Minnesota Lottery's website.

We know those are some lucky locations and cities to buy a lottery ticket at, but that's not all. It looks like Minnesota, in general, is a pretty lucky place to be in. The USAToday put out a list of the states with the most Powerball Jackpot winners, and Minnesota came in number 3. See the entire list here.

  1. Illinois
  2. Missouri
  3. Minnesota

So you gotta ask yourself one question. Do you feel lucky? Well, do ya?
