Meet This Week’s “Teacher of the Week”
We want to congratulate and give a big shout out to this week's "Teacher of the Week": Greg Meixell, the First Grade teacher from Talahi Elementary School in St. Cloud.
We, once again, had to present the award to an empty classroom. And as more and more schools have been going to 100% distance learning, it's something we will be seeing more often, but I don't think we will ever get used to it.
Greg was nominated by JoAnn Thorson, who normally is a volunteer at the school when COVID isn't keeping students out of the classroom. Here is JoAnn's nomination letter:
Greg Meixell is an excellent teacher who cares and supports his students. He spends many hours on lesson planning to make them fun and interesting.
The students know that they can count on Greg to support and help them. He is a great role model for the students and can often be heard saying, "do your best."
Greg is a shining star at Talahi Elementary School and continues to make the school a better place with his presence. - JoAnn Thorson
Our 'Teacher of the Week' receives a plaque from All-Star Trophy and Awards. and gift certificates from Great Harvest Bread Company, Sunday Brunch from Coyote Moon Grille, Morph Salon & Barbershop, and St Cloud Floral. A special thanks to Mathnasium of St. Cloud for also sponsoring our "Teacher of the Week."
Nobody knows what this school year will continue to be like. But one thing we know is that we want to continue to recognize teachers in Central Minnesota, even if it's in an empty classroom. We are ready to adjust to whatever situation presents itself.
Thank you to all of our teachers. If you know a teacher that should be recognized, tell us all about them here.
