When I was younger, I wasn’t particularly keen on the whole 80’s glam rock thing. The style struck me as shallow, narcissistic, and down right goofy. I didn’t see much depth in the music or lyricism.

I far preferred more progressive and thought provoking like Rush or Pink Floyd. But a lot of people in my life loved it. My mom and cousin are die-hard fans of Journey, Van Halen, Aerosmith, and all of the other popular 80s bands. Although I had gone several years without really appreciating that era, eventually they rubbed off on me, and slowly but surely I grew to crave arena rock.

I realized that music didn’t always have to be dark and depressive, and that watching Eddie Van Halen run around on stage with that little red guitar was one of the most inspiring and fun things I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, as much as I would love to see all the great 80s bands live, it would cost a small fortune to see them play.

But fear not! If you’re in the same boat as me and dig all the popular groups from that era but don’t want to blow thousands of dollars to see them live, you can catch Hairball this tomorrow instead. They’re the premier 80s rock-n-roll tribute band, covering everything from Poison to Kiss. I’ve seen some videos of these guys, and they absolutely kill it on stage.

They’re easily as talented as the bands that they cover. You can check out Hairball tomorrow night (Saturday, April 14th) at Bernick’s Arena in Sartell. Doors open at 7 with the show starting at 8. You can get your tickets online now for $20 or pay $30 at the door. Don’t miss out, it should be a gnarly show.
