The pandemic has hit the hospitality industry very hard.  But, it has also hit retail business as well.  Not quite as bad, but it has still suffered.  Ulta Beauty was one of those stores that has suffered during the pandemic and quarantine.

So, Ulta Beauty has struck a deal with Minneapolis based Target Corporation and putting some "shop in shop"  stores within Target in hundreds of stores across the country.

This is very similar to what JCPenney did with Sephora a  few years back.  Ulta Beauty will have shops within Target that will be about 1000  square feet.  They will be staffed by Target employees, but they will be trained by Ulta.  The shop in shops will have about 40 beauty brands including haircare, fragrances, and make-up.

People who purchase Ulta products through Target will be able to use Target's services such as same day services like curb-side pickup, or Shipt delivery, and online shopping.  So, the convenience will remain the same.  And possibly even better now that you can do the "one-stop shop".

Obviously, the make-up (beauty) industry has seen a drop in sales mostly due to people working more and more out of their homes.  But the skincare industry has been doing well.  All of the hand washing has been drying out people's hands, so there is a need for those types of products.

As for where the shop in shops will go, they are still trying to decide where best to place these.  That announcement will be coming within the next few months. I'm guessing that it may not be here in St. Cloud since the Ulta store here is near Target, Crossroads already. But we will find out soon.
