Nailed It: Talking Minnesotan, and the Negative [WATCH]
If you're from Minnesota then you may have never realized how we talk positive by putting a negative in our sentences. This guy nails it on the head to truly understand what we mean. I've lived here my entire life and never thought I picked up an accent, but now that I see this I can easily see how people can tell I'm from here.
It's really true! We reverse a negative in almost everything we say. Somebody asking us "How are you today?" will usually generate a response of "could be worse" if we're not having a bad day. Notice how we put a negative cadence into it, instead of saying "I'm having a good day"?
He gives a few examples that are spot on and we hear it daily. After watching this, you're likely to re-think how you word things here in Minnesota. Make sure you pass it on to the worst of the worst with people who need to hear it.
