Every year at our house we paint pumpkins with the kids, because it was fun and they could be creative. Now, that our kids are getting a little older, 7-year-old Harper, and 4-year-old Wyatt, we decided this year would be a good year to start a new tradition of pumpkin carving. We told the kids this the other day and they were beyond excited.

We are now trying to come up with fun yet creative ideas. So, I took to The River's Facebook page to ask our listeners what they came up with this year and to share a photo in the comments.  This definitely got my family's ideas flowing. I thought this could help you as well.

Here are some pictures of the pumpkins they carved:

After looking at the pictures and getting tips from listeners. It sound like I will have the most success with pumpkin carving patterns and stencils. I found some free downloadable patterns online and a listener found some at Walmart for a few dollars. Makes the job a little bit easier especially for first time pumpkin carvers. I will have to post the results. Happy carving.
