St. Cloud was recently named the third worst city in Minnesota to drive in, according to QuoteWizard.com. The Granite City trails only #1 Moorhead and #2 Inver Grove Heights when it comes to rate of accidents, speeding tickets, DUI’s and citations.

According to QuoteWizard, "We conducted a comprehensive study of auto insurance rates in Minnesota through Quadrant Information Services. The quotes we collected were for a single, 35-year-old male who has an excellent credit score and a clean driving record. He owns a 2012 Honda Accord and drives it an average of 15,000 miles a year. His car insurance policy has 100/300/50 coverage limits and a $1,000 deductible, where applicable."

The survey also looked at how much a hypothetical rate would increase based on a single accident. For St. Cloud, the rate would increase from $1,865 to $2,878.

Rounding out the top (bottom?) five worst cities for driving in Minnesota were Shakopee and Elk River. The five best cities were Austin, Winona, Eden Prairie, Hopkins and Albert Lea.

Last year, St. Cloud was the 15th worst city to drive in Minnesota.
