If you recently picked up a case of the ever-popular canned chicken chunks at Sam's Club in St. Cloud, you may want to take a close look at it. It may contain hard plastic and is being recalled.

Tony Downs Food Company, Inc. is recalling nearly 100,000 pounds of their chicken in water canned products, sold under the "Member's Mark" brand name at Sam's Club stores, according to the US Dept. of Agriculture.

Here's what to look for on the cans of chicken affected:

  • 12.5-oz. cans in a case containing 6 cans of “Member’s Mark PREMIUM Natural Chunk CHICKEN BREAST IN WATER” with lot code 17333, case code 9816 and a use-by date of Nov. 29, 2020.
  • 50-oz. cans in a case containing 6 cans of “Member’s Mark FOOD SERVICE PREMIUM Natural Chunk CHICKEN BREAST IN WATER” with lot code 17332, case code 9817 and a use-by date of Nov. 28, 2019.

The USDA is urging those with affected canned chicken products to either throw away the cans or return them to Sam's Club. They also report that there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
