Thank You Central Minnesota! We Will Miss You.
Next Tuesday is my last day with Townsquare Media. My wife and I are moving to Virginia. I guess I should say moving back to Virginia; we lived there for seven years before we moved back to our home state of North Carolina four years ago.
We’ve only been in Central Minnesota two years and came here with the intent to make this our permanent home, but I’ve been blessed with a great opportunity to return to a group of radio stations I’ve worked with before and this seems like where GOD wants us to be.
Kim and I have enjoyed our time here and have made some of the best friends we’ve ever had in our short time in St. Cloud.

There are several people that I want to Thank for their friendships, partnerships and acquaintances while I’ve been here.
First, I want to start with the folks I work with every day at Townsquare Media St. Cloud.
They took a chance on a guy from halfway across the country and welcomed us into their family here, and I will forever be grateful. There are so many wonderfully talented people in this building who generally care about Central Minnesota, the businesses that are here, and the people they live around.
To Dave Overlund, I truly believe that GOD brought us together and I’m not sure that we’re not related somehow with the similarities that we share. You are so talented, funny, smart, and loving. Your devotion to your family and the way you care about your job is impressive, and I admire you for it.
To Lee Voss, you’re one of the best, most solid newscasters I’ve ever worked with. We had a blast covering high school football in 2024 and Kim and I have enjoyed being in your home with Michelle many times and will miss sitting by the fire. You’re a loyal friend and confidant and I am been blessed by our friendship.
I want to say Thank You to the listeners of 96.7 The River, 98.1 Minnesota’s New Country and 103.7 The Loon who have tuned inand allowed me to spend time with them. For those who’ve played our contests, came to live broadcasts and sent messages via email or our apps, I say Thank You to you all for getting to know me and letting me get to know you.
Tim and Tamara and Up In Smoke BBQ in St. Cloud. We developed a partnership where I endorsed their restaurant for well over a year. They allowed me to represent them and try to convey why I so believe in their food and the goal they had of being one of the best restaurants in Minnesota.
The BBQ has brought a taste of home, and I will miss their menu, and the Honey Bar-B-Q sauce.
My wife has several challenges with her health, and while we’ve lived here, she has gotten some of the best care we’ve ever had. The doctors and nurses at CentraCare’s St. Cloud Hospital and their doctor's offices where she has been seen as well as St. Cloud Orthopedic, have cared for her so well, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
When you’re 1,200 miles from any family and the medical teams you’ve built relationships with over the years, it can be nerve racking, but the care our family has been shown here has been tremendous.
To the people of Minnesota, I have come to admire and respect you so much. The way you not only survive but embrace the winters here is incredible. Some folks may joke about “Minnesota Nice”, but we have truly met some of the most kind and welcoming people who accepted a couple of Southerners who had only a small idea of what they were getting into when we moved here.
We are really excited about our move to Virginia, but Minnesota will always have a special place in our hearts, and we are so glad that we had our time here. We’re already talking about visiting in the future.
Oh, one more thing, SKOL!
Minnesota Stereotypes...or Not? What are some of the things that are a stereotype, but also true?
