We hear mostly about Asian beetles and boxelder bugs this time of year, but there's another problem right now with stink bugs, and they are a little trickier to get rid of.

According to the MN Deptartment of Agriculture, the first find of brown marmorated stink bug in Minnesota was in 2010. From 2015 to 2016 the population increased substantially.

They get the name "stink bug" because of the awful smell when they are disturbed or smashed. The reproduce quickly, much like boxelder bugs and Asain beetles, and can be a pain to get rid of. Your home quickly develops an odor that is hard to remove.

Thankfully there is a pretty simple method of getting these pesky bugs rid of for good.

Virginia Tech University did a study on the ways to get rid of them and found that traps sold in stores are way less effective than the home method!

  1. Simply get a foil pan and fill it with soapy water.
  2. Place the pan in a dark room.
  3. Place a light over the pan.

This will attract these dark room stink bugs and eventually get rid of them in a short amount of time.
