Minnesota Red Cross Offers Incentive For Donating Blood
Summertime travel is in full swing. No matter if you are heading to the cabin for the weekend or you’re traveling out of state, you’ve seen there are a ton of people hitting the roads lately.
Why Does The Need For Blood Go Up This Time Of Year?
And as customary as the number of people who travel each summer, the need for blood very is high again. With all the extra traffic, the risk of more accidents goes up, which creates a higher need for donors.
Not only is summer a vulnerable time of year for increased accidents, but with vacation season, less people are donating blood.

That's The Ticket!
The Red Cross in Minnesota and the Dakotas Regions are offering an incentive if you will take a little time to donate blood.
If you make an appointment and donate blood before the end of July, the Red Cross will send you a Fandango movie ticket, up to a $15 value with fees.
Who Should Consider Donating Blood?
All blood types are needed as always, but the most pressing need is for O type blood, which can have a positive or negative Rh factor. O negative donors are known as universal donors, which means it can be transferred to any person.
Donating blood generally takes about an hour, so it will not interrupt much of your time or keep you from doing other things that you have on your schedule.
Blood donors are allowed to donate blood up to 6 times per year, which comes to about one donation every 56 days. On the day you donate, you must feel well and be in good health. Donors must be at least 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds.
You can schedule your appointment with the Red Cross to go to a blood drive that is already scheduled, or maybe even arrange to host an event at your work, church, or civic organization.
