2-Cent Tuesday

The tent encampment on the Lincoln Center property on the east side of St. Cloud was talked about quite a bit during the St. Cloud City Council meeting Monday night and WJON listeners expressed their thoughts during our "2-Cent Tuesday" program today.

Gas prices in the St. Cloud area have largely seen a rise in price over the past week. The rise in price didn't go unnoticed by St. Cloud area residents. On WJON's 2-Cent Tuesday program listeners expressed concern that the price was at $3.79 to $3.89 at some stations

Wednesday September 19th is National pepperoni pizza day. According to numerous sources pepperoni is the most popular pizza topping followed by mushrooms, sausage, extra cheese, onions, black olives and green peppers.

The St. Cloud area has a wealth of great bars/restaurants and eating options but each year new restaurant options open up. Today on WJON's 2-Cent Tuesday program listeners had some suggestions on restaurants that either used to be in St. Cloud or have never been here.

The Lincoln Center is a homeless shelter on the southeast side of St. Cloud. They want to increase their overnight capacity limit. Tonight the Zoning Board of Appeals will hear a request from Homeless Helping Homeless which runs the Lincoln Center on Lincoln Avenue to amend a Conditional Use Permit.

The city's of St. Paul and Minneapolis have instituted a mask mandate to deal with the increase in COVID-19 cases. CentraCare spokesman Dr. George Morris went to local civic leaders, which includes St. Cloud area mayors, to ask them to institute a mask mandate indoors at public places like restaurants, bars, grocery stores and retail establishments late last week.

Minnesota is one of 19 states pushing to move to daylight savings time permanently. Today on WJON's 2-cent Tuesday listeners weighed in. Listeners were mostly in favor of doing away with switching our clocks in the fall and spring with some citing health reasons.

Today on WJON's 2-Cent Tuesday program listeners expressed concern about their safety in the community. Concerns ranged from people driving too fast all over the city, potential drug crimes committed in their neighborhoods, violent crime happening at times and road work that needs attention.

Sidewalks and bike lanes can be found throughout many Central Minnesota neighborhoods but do we have enough? Today on WJON's 2-Cent Tuesday program many listeners weighed in on the issue.

2020 was a challenging year with the COVID-19 pandemic waging on. 2021 has also presented many challenges which includes the continuing pandemic, a drought, fires in Canada, the Taliban retaking Afghanistan with U.S. troops leaving, a job shortage and people driving faster on our roadways leading to more deaths in Minnesota.
