Hurricane Ida and the increased demand on gas pushed gas prices up locally in the past week. St. Cloud State Economist and Dean, School of Public Affairs, King Banaian joined me on WJON today. He expects gas prices to drop slightly after Labor Day weekend and continue to fall through October.

Gas prices in Minnesota went up .6 cents per gallon last week averaging $3.02 a gallon.

He expects gas prices to remain fairly steady until Labor Day where he expects a slight increase. Banaian says demand is expected to be reduced after Labor Day which will lead to a slight drop in gas prices.

Is there any limit to what gas prices can be per gallon?

Gas prices have been on the rise lately and St. Cloud State Economist King Banaian joined me on WJON today. He expects gas prices to hit $3.20 a gallon by Labor Day before dropping this fall. Banaian says the demand for travel won't likely subside until after Labor Day which will force this uptick in prices.

Gas prices are higher in Minnesota right now than they were before the pandemic hit last year-- and they're likely to head even higher.

Get ready for more pain at the pump, as gas prices have increased noticeably in Minnesota recently-- and are set to keep rising in 2021.

It's my personal opinion that there was no reason for us to be up near $4 a gallon like we were a few years ago.

Gas prices in some parts of the country could spike after oil refineries in Texas were shut down ahead of Tropical Storm Harvey. But, AAA Minnesota spokewoman Gail Weinholzer says we may only see a small price spike here in the Midwest.
