This is Tyler's story shared by his wife Trista: Life took a strange and unexpected twist for Tyler and his family over the weekend of March 17th. Tyler was having stomach pains for a couple of days so he and his wife, Trista went to an Express care facility to get checked out, expecting to get some medicine and a quick release. Instead, after 4 days, some blood tests, a CT scan, and a bone marrow biopsy Tyler was diagnosis with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or ALL. This is a fast growing cancer of the white blood cells. Tyler has a rare case of ALL known as T-Cell. The age at which he developed the cancer is rare as well. After the doctor’s appointment in St. Cloud Tyler and Trista went home and packed what they needed and headed to the Mayo Clinic for his treatments. Tyler was admitted early morning March 23rd and started chemotherapy treatments that same day. Tyler went through 4 months worth of Chemo treatments down at the Mayo before transferring back home for care. He has had a few bumps and curve balls along the way which included but not limited to a trip to the ICU with a E coli bacteria infection and a trip to the hospital with a case of pancreatitis due to the chemo treatments. Both times these issues have stopped and delayed his treatments. Tyler will start another phase of chemotherapy on August 21st which will last until October 1st. Following that phase Tyler will have one more phase of 54 days and then 3 years of maintenance chemotherapy. Tyler and Trista have 2 children, Ali is 3 and Wesley is 5 (who will be starting Kindergarten this fall.)
