Twin Cities Bound? Roads Will Be a Parking Lot This Afternoon
There's nearly every event you can think of going on today in the Twin Cities. If you're planning to drive to the cities, you might want to leave right now.
Today (Thursday, August 31st) has a ton of events going on at the same time. When that happens, the major highways become clogged and traffic goes nowhere. To give you an idea of what events are going on, here's most of them...
- Minnesota State Fair (all day today) and Usher concert in the grandstand
- Gopher football game at TCF Bank Stadium at 6pm
- Vikings final pre-season game at U.S. Bank Stadium at 7pm
- Twins game against Chicago at 12:10pm
There's also a St. Paul Saints minor league baseball game at 7pm, but shouldn't contribute to the traffic mess too much. Overall, it's going to be a mess anywhere near downtown in either Minneapolis or St. Paul.
I've lived in the Twin Cities and my least favorite part was always traffic. Everything takes a minimum of 30 minutes when you're not in rush hour. Between 11am-1pm it's awful, as well as 3pm-6:30pm. If it's raining or snowing then add a minimum 20 minutes to your drive. I much prefer St. Cloud rush hour traffic any day!
