Last month while doing a Live radio broadcast at Gate City Bank, my wife and I decided to open a checking account there. They offered some appealing options we liked, so we opened an account.

One of the reasons we signed up was the number of locations in the area, our other bank no longer has a location here. Another reason was the ease of their online banking and app.

They promised to communicate with us, and so far, they’ve done a great job at that. For example, yesterday I got an email from Gate City explaining they were launching upgrades to their online banking and mobile app.

The email explained that I could experience some interruptions to my service for the next week. The message gave a breakdown of what I could expect and stated the work would be completed by September 24th.

Signing up for online banking and mobile banking along with setting up new transfers and any re-occurring transfers started being affected yesterday. Customers can still make immediate transfers, but scheduling transfers or any that go out regularly are currently being affected.

The online bill pay option and Zelle option from Gate City Bank will be unavailable starting September 22nd.

If you have payments that need to be made, or you want to make sure everything is being taken care of, you can call Gate City Bank at 1-800-423-3344.  They have information on their website as well if you have questions.

And as always you can stop by your local branch for assistance as well.
